our story
how we got started
our story – from kitchens to flowers
Before stepping into the world of floristry, Sally Wright built a career in some of the most demanding kitchens in the world. She worked as a private chef on luxury yachts, was Kerry Packer’s pastry chef at the polo in Scone, served as pastry chef at the Sydney Olympic Games, created desserts at Deer Valley Resort, Utah for three seasons, and cooked summer seasons for private homes in Portsea and Sorrento. Later came banquets and private events at Roche Harbor near Seattle.
Living in New York City, Sally found a love for florals. She studied at FlowerSchool New York and graduated — same obsession as kitchens: freshness, timing, finish — just a different medium.
Established in Toorak in 2013, sally wright flower studio brings over 15 years of melbourne floristry experience into a private studio model focused on luxury flowers, corporate work, events and hand-delivered designs across melbourne.
In 2013 Sally met Ton at the Melbourne flower market. They talked stems, seasons and deliveries — and never really stopped.
from shop counter to studio
For 13 years Sally owned and ran one of Melbourne’s most recognised luxury retail flower stores in Toorak, building a loyal clientele among the area’s most discerning residents, corporate offices and high-profile event organisers. ton and sally loved the work, but were tied to the grind of a shop counter — lights on, doors open, eight hours on their feet, admin at midnight. Closing the shop wasn’t a step back; it was a step toward what they care about most: making considered flowers and getting them to the right people, on time.
Today sally and ton work from a private studio in Moonee Ponds. They buy fresh each morning, make to order, and hand-deliver across Melbourne. Fewer jobs. More attention.
what we do
- Same-day bouquets (order by 11 am) made that morning, not the day before.
- Events and life moments that feel like you, not a template.
- Corporate/home flowers on rotation where reliability matters.
- Install days where Ton’s mechanics and logistics actually save the day.
meet the team
Sally — brings the kitchen discipline and the edit. Colour, proportion, presentation. The part where it finally looks “done”.
Ton — grew up living and breathing flowers. As a kid he picked tulips in the fields with a radio beside him, listening to the Tour de France. He went on to own his own company in Holland, buying at Royal FloraHolland Aalsmeer and delivering all over Switzerland, Belgium and Germany. Later he moved to Melbourne and worked at one of the city’s luxury florists before joining forces with Sally. He’s still up before sunrise and happiest with a trolley and a list — if there’s a better box of roses in the shed, he’ll find it.
Hennie — the studio dog. Calm, gentle and unbothered by early starts. Supervises conditioning, greets politely and keeps spirits steady on busy install weeks.
They also have trusted former shop staff to call on when big weeks and installs need extra hands.
where we deliver
From Moonee Ponds to Toorak, South Yarra, Armadale, Essendon, Brighton, Richmond, Brunswick and nearby suburbs. Same-day Monday to Friday. For timed runs or outer zones, just ask — they’ll be straight with you. See the delivery terms & conditions for details.
why people book us
Because the flowers arrive fresh and right. Because the card message is spelled correctly. Because if something goes sideways, we actually pick up the phone and fix it.

meet sally + ton
( + hennie)

sally wright
founder & head florist
Cooked her way around the world before flowers found her, and she still moves like someone chasing the next trend. Market runs, deliveries, client calls, admin, socials — if it’s happening at the studio, chances are she’s already three steps ahead of it.

anthony (ton) strijker
partner / head florist
The orchid king. Market runs, deliveries, installations, and most of the face time with our regular clients — if there’s heavy lifting to be done, it’s already done by the time you’ve noticed it needed doing.

hennie - support mascot

hennie the cavoodle
our 5 year old cavoodle, has a habit of jumping into other florist’s vans at the market – she loves it.
